The Development Arc

Decision Quality. Execution. Trajectory.

The Development Arc

Founded by Billy Eppler, former MLB General Manager, New York Mets and Los Angeles Angels. The Development Arc is built for leaders and high performers who operate where every decision is visible and every outcome is evaluated.

Built upon more than 25 years in Major League Baseball front offices  — including tenures as General Manager of the New York Mets and Los Angeles Angels — the practice focuses on environments where decisions are made with limited information, immediate feedback, and material consequences.

This is never a one-size fits-all approach. Time is invested with leadership and stakeholders up front to examine the specific decisions at hand, the language of the business, and the desired outcomes. Universal lessons from professional sport are then translated into that unique context to ensure the message lands and drives measurable action.

On a selective basis, the practice also supports athletes and families navigating the high-leverage decisions of the competitive athletic path.

The Framework

Decision Quality. Execution. Trajectory.

Every consequential decision runs through the same questions. The Development Arc builds the system that makes answering them repeatable.

01 — DECISION QUALITY

What are we going to do — and why does it matter? Before committing, the right inputs need to be examined, assumptions pressure-tested, and the decision separated from the noise around it.

02 — EXECUTION

How are we going to do it? Ownership, operating rhythm, accountability, and clear handoffs determine whether a sound decision becomes action — or disappears into the organization.

03 — TRAJECTORY

How do we know if it’s working? Measurement, feedback loops, and the willingness to iterate are what separate organizations that compound performance from those that repeat the same mistakes.
